CGMiner guide
« on: August 17, 2013, 10:31:30 AM »
Here you can find a guide for CGMiner for GPU mining, I am not going to show how you
can mine with a CPU with the currently difficulty is not the way to go.

1. Download From the AMD website the latest drivers.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
1.1 Download the latest version of the AMD SDK.
http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/heterogeneous-computing/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/downloads/

2. Download CGminer 3.3.4 You can download the .7z or .zip file.
https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/3.3.4
Extract the files to any director, currently i have it in the C: and a shortcut to the desktop.

3. Choose the pool that you want to use for mining IFC, list of the pools:http://infinitecointalk.org/index.php/topic,28.0.html at this moment I am mining on epools.org
(Here you can find the difference between reward types that the pools can use: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools).

4. After you are convienced of a pool and have setup a worker, allot of pools already do have 1 worker auto generated, this is mostly: username - yourusername.1 and password - x, I just use the default settings and if the pool did not setup a worker, in this case I also user the default settings.
So after these steps you have downloaded CGMiner, created a account by a pool and created a worker or use the default worker.

5. Now we are going to setup CGminer to work properly.
First we are going to create .bat file, in the attachment you find my .bat that you can
use as a example. For GPU mining it is recommended to use ATI Graphics cards.
But if you are using a Nividia card and want to try it out use Cudaminer: https://github.com/cbuchner1/CudaMiner

First thing to do is create a empty .txt file, double click to open the .txt file and
then type the desired commands since there is quite some difference between the
Amd GPU's.
Here you can find a overview of all the used AMD graphics card and the used settings:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

Here below you can see the current settings that I am using with my 7970 XFX graphics card:
.bat: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://ifc.epools.org:3344 -u xxx -p xxx --shaders 2048 --intensity 13 --thread-concurrency 8192 --worksize 256 -g 2 --temp-target 72 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-cutoff 80 --gpu-engine 1085 --gpu-memclock 1500 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-vddc 1.256

Also you can find here the list with commands:
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/README

After you have created the command for your GPU, just click "save as", and then as filename.bat
and put the extension file to all types.
You have created a .bat file which you need to place in the same map that your CGMiner is located, if its
already in the map just double click on the .bat and see the magic happen!
